Do some physical exercise, either aerobic or weight training. Aerobic workouts may be in the form of dancing, walking, biking etc. A workout of 30-45 minutes thrice a week will raise your heart rate and burn calories. Do weight training as muscle can burn calories. More muscle will burn more calories. If you find yourself too muscular, it means your job is done and you can then reduce your weight training.

Drink large amounts of water as it has a role in everything your body functions from your joints to your liver. Many experts recommend consumption of eight, 8-oz glasses of water daily. It's good if you coffee or tea, but eight glasses of water is the best way.

One of the most important steps for losing weight quickly is having more small meals instead of a few big ones everyday. If you rat 5 - 6 small meals daily, it will improve your metabolism and energy levels and reduce the feeling of hunger. It will help you to burn calories with a gradual, but not excessive intake of nutrients. You should have a balanced meal, containing some protein and fat with carbohydrates. Chances of getting a big insulin surge are small as both protein and fat cut down the glycemic index of carbohydrates.

Try to put limits on consumption of fats and simple carbohydrates. You will take a big step forward in this regard if you cut down on processed foods. But as it is not always easy to do so, read food labels and avoid them if over 20% of the calories come from fat. Switch to whole grain breads and cereals.

Don't eat too much near bedtime. Try to avoid eating anything two hours before retiring to bed. As most people are not as active at the time, it is better to keep the total calorie as well as carbohydrate level lower in the evening meals. It will prevent the storage of additional fat that would take place when we sleep.

It is a good idea to write down whatever you consume in a log. This will help you maintain your plan. Such a record will help you identify the areas where you are making mistakes so that you do not repeat them in the future. Don't forget to pat yourself on the back when you achieve a goal. It makes sense to acknowledge the efforts you have put in and the progress you have made.
